Software Engineer - Embedded Security

About the role

CDDS is looking for a hands-on software engineer who understands embedded security and US security requirements. The role complements the company's existing cloud security expertise by implementing security on its devices and supporting compliance documentation from a technical perspective, while helping protect people and critical infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Write and maintain software that secures embedded Linux devices and ground systems.
• Implement secure provisioning, authentication, key management and software updates.
• Translate security requirements into practical technical solutions with the security and compliance lead.
• Identify vulnerabilities, implement fixes and verify that security measures work on real hardware.
• Support compliance work with technical documentation and evidence of implemented controls.

Required profile

• Strong software development skills in Python and/or C++.
• Experience securing embedded Linux systems.
• Ability to balance security requirements with performance, reliability and operational needs.
• Nice to have: experience supporting security compliance or assessments, familiarity with US cybersecurity requirements for defense suppliers, CCP certification, and experience with embedded penetration testing.

Required skills

• Practical knowledge of encryption, secure boot, access control and device security.
• Nice to have: hardware-backed key storage such as TPMs, NVIDIA Jetson or similar embedded platforms, Yocto, NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC familiarity.
