Software Engineer III – Original Content (YouTube)

About the role

Google’s software engineers develop next‑generation technologies that power billions of users. As a Software Engineer III on the Original Content team at YouTube, you will design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions that enable creators to share their stories.

Key responsibilities

• Write product or system development code.
• Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices such as style guidelines, testability, and efficiency.
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt it based on product updates and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues, debug, track, and resolve them by analyzing impacts on hardware, network, or service operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of software development experience in one or more programming languages, or 1 year with an advanced degree.
• Experience coding in C++.
• 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.
• Experience analyzing complex data, writing investigative queries, and creating dashboards that turn raw data into actionable insights.
• Background in software architecture with a track record of handling challenges in distributed technical environments.
