Software Engineer - Simulation & Robotics

About the role

We are looking for a software engineer to build and evolve the core of the Skydio Simulator — a high‑fidelity, real‑time digital replica of the physical world used by customers and autonomy engineers daily. The role focuses on systems‑heavy development of physics, sensor simulation, hardware emulation, and integration of the full autonomy stack.

Key responsibilities

• Design and evolve the core simulator architecture to support multiple vehicle types and environments.
• Improve physics models governing motion, interactions, and dynamic agents.
• Build high‑fidelity simulations of cameras, IMUs, and other onboard hardware.
• Integrate and validate the full Skydio autonomy stack within the simulator.
• Develop new simulator capabilities for training, testing, and customer workflows.
• Profile, optimize, and enhance simulator performance and realism.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering experience with C++ and Python.
• Experience building complex systems where performance, determinism, or correctness are critical.
• Comfort reasoning about time‑synchronized systems, state machines, or real‑time execution.
• Ability to work in a large, evolving codebase with multiple stakeholders.
• Interest in robotics, simulation, or physical systems (prior robotics experience is a plus).
