Software Engineer – Simulation & Robotics

About the role

Skydio is seeking a Software Engineer to develop and evolve the core of the Skydio Simulator, a high‑fidelity, real‑time digital replica of the physical world used by customers and autonomy engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and evolve the foundational architecture of the simulator to support multiple vehicle types and environments.
• Improve physics models, sensor and hardware simulations, and integrate the full autonomy stack for realistic testing.
• Develop core simulator components in C++ and Python under real‑time constraints.
• Profile, optimize, and enhance simulator performance while maintaining fidelity.
• Collaborate with autonomy, perception, and controls teams to align simulation behavior with real‑world systems.

Required profile

• Strong software engineering experience with C++ and Python.
• Experience building complex, performance‑critical systems where determinism and correctness matter.
• Comfort reasoning about time‑synchronized, real‑time execution and state machines.
• Ability to work in a large, evolving codebase with multiple stakeholders.
• Interest in robotics, simulation, or physical systems (prior robotics experience is a plus).
