Staff AI Platform Engineer

About the role

Axpo is building a governed AI foundation to enable secure, controlled access to models and tools across the company. As a Staff AI Platform Engineer you will define standards for AI consumption and deliver a production‑ready platform for AI‑assisted applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design and operate components that enforce AI usage policies, including LLM routing, model registry, identity, permissions, rate limits and budgeting.
• Build end‑to‑end deployment pipelines from code repository to SSO‑protected applications with secret management and admin UI for non‑technical users.
• Harden infrastructure with isolated runtimes, code analysis, vulnerability scanning, restricted egress and dropped privileges.
• Support platform users by fixing issues, improving documentation and turning feedback into product enhancements.
• Evaluate open‑weight models and European inference providers to expand available options.

Required profile

• Several years of backend and infrastructure engineering experience with strong Python and API development skills.
• Passion for AI model governance, understanding of usage tracking, access control and data handling.
• Clear communication, willingness to improve documentation and support non‑technical stakeholders.
• Fluent English; German is a plus.
