Staff Backend Engineer – Financial Ledger

About the role

We are looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to own and evolve the core financial ledger system of a fast‑growing travel‑tech SaaS platform. Based in Switzerland, you will ensure the accuracy, reliability, and scalability of revenue recognition, payments, and profit calculations across a distributed environment.

Key responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of the Financial Core system and guide its evolution toward a scalable V2 architecture.
• Validate lifecycle flows, reconciliation logic, and financial correctness across distributed services.
• Design and maintain ledger‑style financial models, including revenue recognition, cost allocation, and multi‑party transaction flows.
• Enforce strict financial invariants within an event‑driven architecture to guarantee deterministic, auditable outcomes.
• Collaborate with finance and engineering leadership to translate business rules into robust implementations.
• Identify architectural gaps in the live production system and drive improvements.
• Support reliability and scalability of payment, billing, and reporting domains while contributing hands‑on code.

Required profile

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience, preferably with financial, billing, or transactional systems.
• Proven track record building or maintaining payment platforms, billing engines, ERP, or subscription infrastructure.
• Deep expertise in ledger systems, reconciliation mechanisms, and deterministic financial correctness.
• Strong understanding of revenue recognition, liabilities, cost structures, and multi‑party money flows.
• Experience evolving complex production systems without disrupting existing functionality.
