Staff Security Engineer, Detection & Response

About the role

Anthropic is building safe, steerable AI and needs a senior engineer to lead its Detection & Response team. You will design, build, and operate tooling that spots threats across the entire technology stack and respond to incidents ranging from external attacks to insider threats.

Key responsibilities

• Lead incident response across all layers of Anthropic’s stack, handling external attacks, insider threats, and system‑wide anomalies.
• Design, develop, and deploy detection and response tooling, including solutions that leverage large language models.
• Create, tune, and maintain detections, playbooks, and automated workflows to accelerate incident handling.
• Analyze incident metrics, refine procedures, and drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with security, engineering, and research teams and participate in an on‑call rotation.

Required profile

• Proven experience investigating security incidents and anomalies in a team setting.
• Hands‑on knowledge of EDR, SIEM, SOAR or comparable security platforms.
• Strong understanding of cloud environments and SaaS operations.
• Ability to lead projects with minimal guidance and communicate effectively across disciplines.
• 7+ years of software engineering, detection engineering, incident response, or threat hunting.
