Staff Software Engineer – Site Reliability Engineering (Google Cloud)

About the role

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) at Google Cloud combines software and systems engineering to build and run large‑scale, fault‑tolerant services. The team owns the reliability of end‑to‑end pipelines that crawl, fetch and index the web, supporting core Google products such as Search and YouTube.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain software platforms and frameworks that support service lifecycle from inception to production.
• Perform capacity planning, launch reviews and monitor availability, latency and overall health of live services.
• Automate routine operations, drive sustainable incident response and conduct blameless post‑mortems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of software development experience and 3+ years leading projects.
• 3+ years designing, analyzing and troubleshooting distributed systems.
• Experience with AI tooling and workflows applied to engineering practices.

Required skills

• Software development in one or more programming languages.
• Design and analysis of large‑scale distributed systems.
• Debugging, performance optimization and automation of routine tasks.

What we offer

• Salary range €156,000 – €159,000 per year, plus 20 % bonus target, equity and benefits.
