Strategic Buyer / Category Manager

About the role

This position is responsible for the strategic procurement of technical components and complex assemblies within an international environment. You will shape commodity group strategies and maintain the company’s competitiveness through professional supplier management.

Key responsibilities

• Operational purchasing of technical (preferably automotive) components and assemblies.
• Manage the full procurement cycle from market analysis and tendering to negotiation, award, and contract conclusion.
• Participate in creating and implementing supplier and commodity group strategies.
• Support and qualify suppliers, conduct supplier audits, and act as lead buyer.
• Independently negotiate contracts with international partners.

Required profile

• Basic technical training with advanced education in purchasing (e.g., purchasing specialist, purchasing manager, or business administrator).
• Experience in vehicle construction, plant engineering, or a comparable industrial setting.
• Proven experience in strategic supplier management, strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• High confidence in negotiation and contract situations.
• Fluent German and English, both spoken and written.
• Willingness to travel internationally.

Required skills

• Proficient use of SAP ERP.
• Advanced MS‑Office skills.
