Structured Power Middle Office Analyst Intern

About the role

TotalEnergies Trading is looking for an intern for its Structured Power Middle Office team in Geneva, working on complex physical and financial power transactions, renewable energy portfolios and the risks of Europe's electricity markets. The internship lasts 6 months, with a preferred start date of December 2026, and sits at the intersection of trading, risk management and technology.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze daily P&L, portfolio exposures and risk metrics, investigate valuation movements and help resolve data or reporting discrepancies
• Support risk monitoring and ad hoc analysis of power market fundamentals, asset performance and portfolio exposures
• Develop analytical tools and automation using Python, VBA and SQL, and automate recurring controls, reconciliations and reporting
• Use Databricks to process large datasets and build dashboards or apps with Streamlit and data visualization tools
• Explore Machine Learning and Generative AI applications in reporting, anomaly detection and information extraction
• Learn about renewable transactions, PPAs, battery storage and flexibility assets, and work with Trading, Risk, Operations and Finance teams

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a Master's degree or in the final year of studies in Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics or a related field
• Strong interest in AI, ML and Generative AI, and in commodity trading and European power markets
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to turn business challenges into technical solutions, and fluent written and spoken English

Required skills

• Python and advanced Excel; knowledge of VBA is highly desirable
• Familiarity with SQL, Databricks, Streamlit and libraries such as Pandas, NumPy or Plotly is an advantage
• An understanding of financial modelling, derivatives, valuation or risk metrics is appreciated
