Systems Engineer – Solid Rocket Motors & SAFing

About the role

The Destinus engineering team is looking for a Systems Engineer to lead the design and qualification of energetic subsystems such as solid rocket motors, warheads, auxiliary pyrotechnics, and safety, arming and firing (SAF) devices. You will own the end‑to‑end qualification program, from concept review through type qualification, production acceptance and in‑service surveillance.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with propulsion, mechanical, electronics and software leads to integrate qualification overlays into a coherent system‑level program.
• Develop and maintain the Qualification Data Pack, including qualification plans, test procedures, verification matrices and reports.
• Define test campaigns, acceptance criteria and coordinate environmental, mechanical, safety and performance tests to NATO AECTP, STANAG and AOP standards.
• Manage re‑qualification activities, assess changes, classify triggers and scope additional testing.

Required profile

• BSc or MSc in Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems or related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of systems engineering experience with energetic or missile‑type subsystems in a defence or aerospace environment.
• Hands‑on experience across laboratory, integration and test environments and willingness to travel between sites.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of NATO AECTP, STANAG and AOP qualification standards.
• Experience with V‑model, gate‑driven qualification lifecycles and formal design reviews.
• Proficiency in configuration management, requirements traceability and document control for complex hardware programs.
• Strong documentation discipline and ability to assemble a complete evidence package for technical‑authority review.
