Tech Legal Counsel (AI & Data Contracts)

About the role

Albatross builds AI perception models that understand human behavior and power product discovery for millions of shoppers, deployed in 12 countries. It is looking for a Tech Legal Counsel to own its contracts end to end, reporting to the CEO. The role is remote within Europe, ideally based in Zug or London.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and close all customer contracts: NDAs, pilot and production agreements, DPAs, group agreements and partnerships with marketplaces in Europe, the US, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
• Build the legal frameworks for the go-to-market team: templates, standard and fallback positions, a negotiation playbook and a register of commitments and renewal dates.
• Own the data and model terms in every agreement, in plain language that a customer's product team can read.
• Lead data protection and AI compliance: GDPR, the Swiss FADP, the EU AI Act, US state privacy laws and international transfers; run security and compliance reviews with enterprise customers, including vendor due diligence, DPIAs, transfer assessments, SOC 2 and customer questionnaires.
• Act as the CEO's business partner on contracts, keeping them short and accurate, and handle corporate and investor documentation, employment across 10+ countries, IP and the use of outside counsel.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with at least 6 years' experience: a top-tier M&A, venture or technology firm, then in-house at a technology company, ideally as its first lawyer.
• Negotiated technology contracts across the table with enterprise counsel and closed them (licensing, API and SaaS agreements, DPAs, partnerships).
• Understands the technology: can read an API specification and data flow and turn it into terms.
• Knows data protection well, including GDPR, international transfers and the EU AI Act; Swiss law governs the contracts.
• Has worked cross-border with US counterparties or US-law contracts and drafts and negotiates in English at native level.
• Eligible to work in Europe.

What we offer

• Salary of EUR 100k-120k gross.
