Technical Engagement Lead - Data & AI

About the role

Unit8, a Data & AI services company founded in 2017, is hiring a Technical Engagement Lead in Zurich or Lausanne. The role takes ownership of complex Data & AI engagements, leading them from an ambiguous client problem to a successful technical outcome, combining client leadership, architecture and hands-on engineering. Depending on experience, the scope ranges from leading a single complex engagement to coordinating multiple workstreams, senior engineers or broader client responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Own the engagement end-to-end, including the client relationship, delivery outcomes and team performance
• Turn client problems into delivery plans with clear objectives, scope, priorities and a roadmap
• Shape the technical solution, stay hands-on in implementation and ensure high engineering quality
• Lead and manage the team, giving direction and feedback
• Identify new opportunities within existing accounts and contribute to pre-sales and new client engagements

Required profile

• Typically 5-8 years of relevant experience with significant ownership of technical projects or client engagements
• Strong engineering background, comfortable designing, implementing, reviewing and debugging production systems
• Deep expertise in at least one area such as GenAI / AI Engineering, Data Engineering, Cloud & Data Platforms or ML / Data Science, with ability to work across disciplines
• Strong problem decomposition and system design, able to move from a business problem to an executable delivery plan
• Experience leading engineers or teams and delivering results
• Effective communication with clients and senior stakeholders, and contribution to proposals and account growth
• Consulting or other client-facing services experience is a strong plus
