Thermo-Mechanical R&D Engineer

About the role

Join Sécheron Hasler Group’s Electrical Safety Solutions unit in Satigny, Geneva, as a Thermo-Mechanical R&D Engineer. You will lead the mechanical and thermal design of electro‑mechanical components for medium‑voltage DC applications that protect railway and renewable‑energy infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and validate mechanical and thermal designs for safety‑critical components.
• Perform multiphysics simulations with a focus on cooling and heat‑transfer analysis.
• Carry out concept feasibility studies, finite‑element analysis, prototyping, testing, certification and product launch.
• Manage industrialisation, product improvements and maintenance of existing solutions.

Required profile

• Master’s or PhD in Mechanical, Energy, Electro‑Mechanical engineering, or a bachelor with extensive relevant experience.
• 5+ years designing electromagnetic devices, preferably in railway or power‑distribution sectors.
• Proven ability to invent advanced concepts and solve critical technical issues.
• Fluency in French or English.

• 3D CAD modelling (SolidWorks preferred).
• COMSOL for multiphysics simulation.
• Finite‑element analysis (thermal, stress, multiphysics).
• Heat‑transfer and cooling analysis.
• Mechanical and thermal design of electro‑mechanical components.
• Testing and validation according to international standards.
• Technical reporting and documentation.
