Validation Engineer – Train Level (ALM Projects)

About the role

The Validation Engineer – Train Level is responsible for planning and executing verification and validation activities for Asset Life Management projects, ensuring modernised trains meet system requirements, safety, quality and customer expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement train‑level validation strategy in line with V‑cycle and Alstom methodology.
• Prepare, maintain and deliver validation documentation such as validation plans, test strategies, procedures, cases and reports.
• Plan, coordinate and execute functional, integration, static and dynamic tests on test benches, trains and on‑site facilities.
• Identify, analyse and manage anomalies, perform root‑cause analysis and follow up corrective actions to closure and sign‑off.
• Participate in test readiness, validation and customer/third‑party assessment reviews.

Required profile

• Master’s or engineering degree in Electrical/Electronic, Systems Engineering, Automation or equivalent.
• Several years of experience in verification & validation or system/train‑level engineering in the railway domain, preferably with modernization or retrofit projects.
• Fluent in French and English; additional languages a plus.

Required skills

• Good understanding of rolling‑stock systems (TCM, traction & braking, doors, HVAC, signalling interfaces).
• Strong knowledge of V‑cycle development, V&V processes, system integration and interface management.
• Familiarity with railway standards EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129.
• Experience with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS) and test management/defect tracking tools.
