Web Content Management Officer (Web Publishing and Language Coordination)

About the role

The Web Content Management Officer works in the Web Unit/Communications Section of the External Outreach Service of the OHCHR in Geneva, reporting to the Web Officer, Head of the Web Unit. The post covers web publishing across the UN official languages and coordinates the multilingual website team.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and develop the OHCHR website in English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese and Russian, including site navigation, user feedback and accessibility
• Manage and coordinate translation progress and priorities, and negotiate translation agreements with academic partners
• Coordinate content creation, updates and integration of contributed material, and set a standard format and layout for all language versions
• Review contributed content with providers and monitor link integrity, accessibility and technical issues
• Lead the multilingual website team, guide assistants and recommend updates to published guidelines
• Act as thematic focal point for issues assigned to the Web Unit, such as website accessibility
• Analyse website analytics, respond to user comments and errors, and provide support to first contributors
• Stay up to date with web industry developments and present on the website to groups

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Communications, Computer Science or a related field, or a first-level degree plus two years of qualifying work experience
• At least five years of progressively responsible experience in website development and management in a multilingual environment, including at least two years at international level
• Experience with Content Management Systems; experience with Translation Management Systems and AI translation tools is desirable
• English at UN Level III, plus Spanish, Chinese, Russian or Arabic at UN Level II

Required skills

• Proficiency in website creation software, HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Knowledge of CMS software and web content management systems
• Ability to translate technical or legal content into clear language for public web materials
