Accountant – Commodity Trading Company

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join a leading commodity trading company in Geneva. The role offers the chance to work in a fast‑paced international environment, handling the full spectrum of accounting activities and supporting strategic financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting tasks, including bookkeeping, general ledger entries, reconciliations, accruals and month‑end closing.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Support management reporting through P&L analysis, balance‑sheet reviews and variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with Swiss and international accounting standards, internal controls and tax requirements.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of contracts, invoices and payments.
• Collaborate with finance, operations, treasury, trade finance and business teams to ensure correct accounting treatment of transactions.
• Participate in accounting projects, process improvements, system enhancements and reporting automation.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of accounting experience, preferably in commodity trading or an international trading environment.
• Strong knowledge of general accounting, closing processes, reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
• Familiarity with Swiss accounting standards or international practices.
• Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, Swiss Certified Specialist in Finance and Accounting or Chartered Accountant.
• Fluent in English and French, both written and spoken.
• Analytical mindset, attention to detail and ability to take ownership of accounting topics.
