Accountant (m/f/d) – Remote, German Entities

About the role

We are seeking an Accountant to manage the financial records of German legal entities within an international software group. The role is fully remote and offers the chance to improve processes, ensure compliance with German accounting standards, and support month‑end and year‑end closings.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting for German entities, including journal entries, accruals and vendor invoice follow‑up.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing, balance‑sheet reconciliations and preparation of financial statements under HGB.
• Prepare German VAT filings (Umsatzsteuervoranmeldung, Zusammenfassende Meldung) and assist with payroll tax declarations.
• Process supplier payments, bank transfers and inter‑company reconciliations.
• Maintain internal controls, improve accounting workflows and resolve historical ledger discrepancies.
• Produce financial KPIs, management reports and variance analysis against budgets and forecasts.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional accounting experience with German HGB and tax requirements.
• Experience in the software, technology or SaaS industry.
• Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken.
• Residence in Europe with legal authorization to work in the country of residence.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
