AI Project Manager

About the role

ParetoLabs, a Zurich-based software studio founded in 2023 and a Microsoft for Startups partner, develops custom AI-powered applications for conversational and text-processing use cases. It is looking for an experienced, structured Senior AI Project Manager to lead AI projects for its clients from first idea to production, acting as the link between clients, engineers and the AI technologies built.

Key responsibilities

• Lead AI projects end to end, such as retrieval assistants, copilots and agents, from discovery and scoping to rollout and operation.
• Translate business problems into clear use cases, requirements and success criteria with clients.
• Plan and steer delivery with the engineering team: scope, timeline, budget, risks and priorities.
• Define how quality is measured and ensure solutions are evaluated before and after go-live.
• Work with client stakeholders on data, security, compliance and change management.
• Collaborate closely with the multicultural team and bring your own ideas to projects.

Required profile

• Several years of project management in software, data or digital transformation projects; AI or data projects are a strong plus.
• Solid understanding of how large language models, RAG and AI agents work, their strengths and limitations.
• Enough knowledge of software architecture and cloud infrastructure (ideally Microsoft Azure) to discuss solutions with engineers and client IT and security teams.
• Confidence with agile delivery and with turning ambiguous problems into concrete plans.
• Experience working with business and IT stakeholders up to management level, including managing expectations about what AI can and cannot do.
• Awareness of data protection (Swiss FADP, GDPR) and information security in client projects.
• Excellent German and English, written and spoken.
• Structured, hands-on and curious, with ownership to see projects through.
