Associate Director, Manufacturing Downstream Processing

About the role

Join Lonza’s Ibex™ Solutions team in Visp as an Associate Director, Manufacturing Downstream Processing (DSP). You will lead a high‑performing operational team and ensure the delivery of life‑changing biologics therapies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of process engineers, specialists and manufacturing professionals.
• Own operational performance of the DSP area, ensuring production readiness, execution and on‑time delivery.
• Resolve manufacturing challenges in collaboration with MSAT, Production Support, QA and Upstream Processing.
• Drive risk assessments, workplace inspections, technical change management and compliance activities.
• Represent DSP during customer interactions, audits and regulatory inspections.
• Contribute to capital projects, including facility design, equipment startup and commissioning.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in a GMP‑regulated biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
• Strong expertise in downstream processing and biologics manufacturing, especially mammalian cell culture.
• Demonstrated ability to build, coach and engage high‑performing technical teams.
• Excellent problem‑solving, decision‑making and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
• Degree in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related field, or equivalent experience.
