Associate Information Analyst (UN Investigation)

About the role

The Associate Information Analyst will work in the Investigation and Analysis Section of the International, Impartial and Independent Mechanism (IIIM). Reporting to a P3 Information Analyst, the incumbent will support investigations into serious crimes committed in the Syrian Arab Republic since March 2011.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in developing research and analysis strategies and conduct open‑source research to identify evidence for criminal accountability.
• Gather, evaluate and analyse multi‑source information, identifying gaps and informing investigative decisions.
• Organise and synthesize information using analytical software to produce analytical reports and case‑building products.
• Maintain and update internal databases, applying information‑management processes and electronic systems.
• Participate in briefings and conferences with UN entities, national judicial authorities, civil society and other partners.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s) in criminology, law, human rights, Middle‑Eastern studies or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum two years of progressive experience in information analysis for criminal investigations, humanitarian law or human‑rights contexts.
• Proficiency in English (UN Level III) and Arabic (UN Level III); French desirable.
• Certification or training in intelligence analysis is a plus.
