About the role

The Audio-Visual Editing and Digital Media Internship supports the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva with audiovisual digitisation, preservation and editing projects. Interns will work on video, audio, photographic and multimedia records to ensure they are accessible and archived for long‑term use.

Key responsibilities

  • Support audiovisual digitisation and preservation projects, preparing materials for processing, editing, archiving and preservation.
  • Perform basic to intermediate video editing tasks such as trimming, sequencing, captioning, formatting and exporting content.
  • Assist with audio editing, including synchronization, sound‑level adjustments and basic restoration.
  • Create subtitles, captions, transcripts and other accessibility‑related materials.
  • Conduct quality‑control reviews of edited audiovisual materials for audio and image quality, synchronization and technical compliance.
  • Organise and maintain digital media assets using established folder structures, naming conventions and metadata practices.
  • Track project progress, maintain editing logs and prepare documentation and reports.
  • Collaborate with records management, communications and information management teams on audiovisual initiatives.

Required profile

  • Enrolled in or having completed a graduate programme, or in the final year of a bachelor’s degree, preferably in IT, Communications, Film/Media Studies, Business Administration or related fields.
  • Demonstrated interest in audiovisual production, archives, records management, digital preservation or information governance.
  • Computer literate with standard software applications and able to learn digital records management and archival information systems.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English; knowledge of French or another UN language is an advantage.
