Backend Software Engineer

About the role

Adaptyv is creating an automated laboratory where AI agents can design and run biology experiments. As a Backend Software Engineer you will build the core systems that make the lab programmable, turning complex molecular biology workflows into reliable, scalable software.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement production‑grade backend services using Python and TypeScript.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines that ingest large volumes of heterogeneous instrument data (e.g., binding kinetics, enzyme activity, chromatography).
• Create robust APIs to integrate laboratory instruments, robotics, and scheduling systems.
• Collaborate closely with scientists and automation engineers to translate experimental protocols into software specifications.
• Ensure high observability, reliability, and maintainability of all backend components.

Required profile

• Strong experience building production backend systems.
• Proven ability to architect reliable, maintainable software.
• Interest in biology and AI‑driven wet‑lab experimentation.
• High‑autonomy, founder‑mindset with pragmatic problem‑solving approach.
