Bioengineer, Display & Library Engineering

About the role

Adaptyv is building an automated lab so that AI agents can run biology experiments. The company is looking for a Bioengineer to scale up data generation: while design teams provide millions of sequences, the automated infrastructure handles only a few thousand, and library construction and display close that gap. The role is hands-on and build-oriented: you make libraries, run selections and turn working protocols into ones the automation team can run independently.

Key responsibilities

• Build libraries using oligo pools, combinatorial assembly and barcoding; more campaigns fail at this step than at selection.
• Run selections end to end, including deciding whether a round enriched real binders or just fast growers.
• Pick the platform for each campaign and stand it up according to the library and target, not past habits.
• Own the sequencing analysis and hand off to automation, ensuring protocols work when run by others.
• Catch selected designs, express and measure them on BLI and SPR, and close the loop on whether the selection worked.

Required profile

• MSc or PhD in molecular biology, protein engineering or a related field, plus 3+ years running display and selection yourself.
• Experience setting up a display platform, not just using one: built the library, got the selection working and produced binders validated in an independent assay.
• Depth in at least one display format and working knowledge of the others.
• Understanding of high-diversity cloning and where bias enters a pool.
• Self-starter who decides what to build and works to customer deadlines, with startup speed.

Required skills

• NGS as a routine tool; FACS if available.
• Enough Python or R to analyse your own data.
• Serious use of AI tools, with the judgment to check what they return.

The position is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, on site, full time, starting as soon as possible. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
