Building Maintenance Intern

About the role
The Building Maintenance Intern will join the Facilities Management Section of the United Nations Office at Geneva. This full‑time, on‑site internship offers hands‑on experience in the upkeep and documentation of the historic Palais des Nations and its annexes.
Key responsibilities
- Participate in on‑site inspections, building assessments and technical walk‑throughs to support preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Assist in updating architectural drawings and building plans using AutoCAD under supervision.
- Support the verification and updating of building inventories, technical databases and infrastructure records.
- Coordinate with technicians and artisans on documentation activities, including work on historical furniture and heritage elements.
- Gain knowledge of Swiss technical standards (SIA) and fire protection requirements (AEAI) applicable to the UN campus.
- Provide ad‑hoc technical and administrative support for ongoing infrastructure projects.
Required profile
- Enrolled in or having completed the final year of a Bachelor’s degree or a graduate programme.
- Strong interest in United Nations work and international environments.
- Field of study related to construction, engineering, architecture or facilities management.
Required skills
- AutoCAD (basic proficiency)
