Business Development Director – Public Sector (GTS)

About the role

Gartner is seeking a Business Development Director for its Global Technology Services (GTS) line‑of‑business, focused on expanding the public‑sector client base. The role will drive new‑logo acquisition across an assigned territory, building executive relationships and delivering research‑based solutions to government organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and prospect public‑sector organisations that are not current Gartner clients.
• Leverage Gartner’s sales methodology to create and close new business opportunities.
• Build and manage a pipeline of prospects, collaborating with internal teams and external networks.
• Achieve assigned revenue quota and maintain accurate forecast on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
• Establish executive‑level relationships to become a trusted advisor.
• Hand over closed accounts to Account Executives within 30 days for ongoing service.

Required profile

• 15+ years of consultative sales experience in high‑technology services or software, preferably with large multinational or public‑sector customers.
• Proven track record of prospecting, building pipelines and closing complex, enterprise‑wide solutions.
• Deep understanding of public‑sector procurement processes, political and financial dynamics.
• Strong influencing skills without direct reporting authority and ability to articulate value propositions to senior executives.
