Business Legal Specialist – Legal, Governance & Compliance

About the role

UNIQA Re is seeking a hands‑on Business Legal Specialist to act as a trusted partner for the business, driving legal, governance and compliance matters across an international reinsurance environment. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, own end‑to‑end processes and help shape structures for the company’s next growth phase.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with business units on contractual, corporate, regulatory and strategic issues, drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements.
• Translate complex legal matters into clear, pragmatic guidance and assess legal risks.
• Lead international and cross‑border legal topics with a high degree of autonomy.
• Contribute to regulatory matters in FINMA, EU and selected UK/US contexts.
• Support strategic initiatives such as new business models and MGA structures from concept to implementation.
• Prepare and coordinate board and committee materials, and develop corporate governance frameworks, policies and decision‑making structures.
• Shape and enhance the compliance framework, including policies, controls, assessments, audits and training initiatives.
• Own case‑specific compliance matters and integrate them into the broader control environment.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in insurance, reinsurance, financial services or another regulated environment.
• Proven ability to work independently, drive cross‑border matters and collaborate with senior stakeholders.
• Strong commercial mindset with the capacity to balance legal risk and business objectives.
