Business Unit Controller (Remote, US)

About the role

The Business Unit Controller will lead all accounting and financial reporting activities for a designated business unit within Kelvin Group. Working remotely from anywhere in the United States, you will ensure accurate financial information, compliance with US GAAP, and provide timely insights to operational leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the monthly close process, enforce standard procedures and reporting deadlines.
• Perform monthly account reconciliations and analysis.
• Maintain executive and operations management reporting.
• Develop and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Oversee daily transaction processing (AR, AP, WIP, cash receipts, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and implement new accounting standards.
• Identify inefficiencies and drive process improvements.
• Manage cash flow, tax filings, payroll accounting, and job costing.
• Prepare budgets, forecasts, variance analyses, and financial models.
• Provide financial analysis for capital investments, pricing, and contract negotiations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
• CPA license preferred.
• 10‑15 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience with private‑equity‑backed companies and construction accounting strongly preferred.
• Background in fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environments.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office.
