C++ Software Engineer – Accelerator Control Systems

About the role

As a C++ Software Engineer you will develop, evolve and maintain control software for more than 5,000 power converters used in a large accelerator complex. Working in a collaborative team, you will own a set of software classes and lead their migration to the next‑generation FGCDv2 framework.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, document and maintain modern C++ control applications for power‑converter systems running on Linux.
• Take full ownership of software components throughout their lifecycle, including migration to the FGCDv2 framework.
• Identify, implement and validate improvements to the FGCDv2 framework based on operational experience.
• Support software architecture, code quality and CI/CD practices to ensure reliable and scalable solutions.
• Collaborate closely with engineers, equipment specialists and operations teams, and supervise a small team of developers.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in modern C++ and Linux‑based development environments.
• Experience designing, developing and maintaining medium‑to‑large software systems with a focus on testing, code review and continuous integration.
• Ability to take ownership of technical deliverables and communicate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Interest or experience in hardware‑software integration, industrial or control systems is a plus.
