Climate Transition Banking Implementation Expert

About the role

The Climate Transition Banking Implementation Expert will support UNEP FI member banks in implementing the Guidance for Climate Target Setting and related climate finance tools. The role is remote and lasts for 12 months.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate engagement with member banks to advance their climate goals, including coordinating working‑group meetings and preparing meeting summaries.
• Develop and deliver reports, guidance, webinars and events that help banks implement climate mitigation strategies and transition finance.
• Project‑manage the delivery of the climate transition workplan and ensure outputs align with UNEP FI’s Social Action Plan and UN core values.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in economics, finance, environmental studies, international relations, business administration or a related field (or a bachelor’s degree with 9 years relevant experience).
• At least seven years of experience at the intersection of climate change and corporate impact, preferably with financial institutions.
• Demonstrated ability to work with banks on climate target setting, policy engagement and transition planning.

Required skills

• Knowledge of climate finance frameworks, including the Principles for Responsible Banking and the Guidance for Climate Target Setting.
• Experience preparing technical reports, guidance documents and facilitating webinars or workshops.
