Cloud Engineer (AWS) – Full‑Time Remote (EU)

About the role

We are seeking a Cloud Engineer with strong AWS expertise to join Ikerian AG’s fast‑growing medical‑device software team. The role is fully remote within the EU and focuses on building, securing and scaling our cloud platform that powers AI‑driven healthcare solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain highly available, secure and scalable AWS environments.
• Prioritise and execute tasks from the cloud infrastructure backlog, balancing immediate fixes with long‑term improvements.
• Set up monitoring and observability, proactively addressing availability, performance or security incidents.
• Own day‑to‑day cloud operations and acquire deep knowledge of the existing architecture.
• Evaluate new technologies and services for production readiness and seamless integration.
• Document cloud processes, procedures and architectures for team-wide knowledge sharing.
• Apply AWS Well‑Architected Framework principles to optimise the infrastructure.
• Participate in occasional out‑of‑hours cloud deployments (once or twice a month).
• Conduct proof‑of‑concepts on new AWS services and third‑party tools to drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Entrepreneurial and collaborative mindset with a proactive problem‑solving approach.
• University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience with AWS cloud services in a professional environment.

Required skills

• AWS core services: IAM, S3, KMS, RDS, VPC, ECS, EC2.
• Multi‑account and multi‑region AWS production setups.
• Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
• Scripting with Python, Bash or Node.js.
• Cloud security tools: AWS WAF, GuardDuty, Config, CloudTrail.
• CI/CD pipelines and GitLab.
• Version control with Git.
• Cloud networking: VPC, VPC Peering, Subnets, Load Balancing.
• Monitoring and observability: Grafana, Prometheus, OpenSearch, ELK stack.
