Commercial Manager, Carbon Upstream

About the role

Trafigura is looking for a Commercial Manager to support the commercial performance and growth of its upstream positions in carbon markets. The role reports to the Head of Carbon Upstream and works directly with investors, capital partners, consultants, technical providers and the trading and technical teams to maximise the value of each asset and to originate and execute new upstream opportunities. It is a high-visibility, commercially driven role within an existing team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage upstream positions: engage with external investors, consultants and customers, and monitor and optimise them to maximise value.
• Develop and maintain DCF and financial models.
• Work with the trading team on upstream project marketing and monetisation, including RFP responses, data room maintenance and position management.
• Carry out market analysis and research.
• Originate and execute new upstream deals, build the financial models and develop and revise contracts.
• Coordinate technical service providers.

Required profile

• Front office or sales experience.
• 2+ years of experience in a trading organisation, investment banking, private equity or unlisted asset management, or a comparable commercial or investment role.
• Experience or exposure in carbon markets or related areas such as nature-based removals or impact investing.
• Commercial ambition and emotional intelligence.

Preferred qualifications

• Hands-on DCF financial modelling.
• Drafting or reviewing commercial contracts.
• Preparing RFP responses or managing data rooms.
• Coordinating external technical service providers.
