Compliance Director (Zurich)

About the role

The Compliance Director will lead the compliance function for a regulated Swiss financial services entity, reporting to the Global Head of Compliance and working closely with the local executive team. This senior, stand‑alone role offers high visibility and autonomy across both local and international stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and enhance the firm’s compliance framework and control environment.
• Monitor regulatory developments and ensure timely implementation of requirements.
• Serve as the primary contact with Swiss regulators and external auditors.
• Provide regulatory, conduct and compliance advice to senior management and business units.
• Oversee AML, KYC and broader financial‑crime compliance activities.
• Manage compliance monitoring, risk assessments and regulatory reporting.
• Support audits, regulatory reviews and remediation initiatives.
• Lead strategic, regulatory and business transformation projects.
• Collaborate with Legal, Risk, Operations, HR and other functions to foster a strong compliance culture.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of compliance experience in a regulated financial services environment.
• Strong knowledge of Swiss financial market regulation and experience interacting with regulators.
• Background in asset management, wealth management, banking, securities, fintech or related sectors.
• Expertise in compliance monitoring, governance, AML and KYC frameworks.
• Proven ability to work independently and own a broad compliance remit.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills with influence at senior level.
• Pragmatic, commercially minded while maintaining high regulatory standards.
• Fluent English; additional European languages are a plus.
