Control Systems Engineer – Automotive Powertrain

About the role

We are looking for a Control Systems Engineer to lead system‑level control design for next‑generation engine control architectures. The role combines simulation, verification, and validation activities with close collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, simulate, verify and validate control functions using model‑based approaches.
• Develop and maintain plant and system models and Model‑in‑the‑Loop (MiL) environments.
• Perform evidence‑based trade‑off analyses and optimize technical solutions.
• Support commissioning activities on test benches and in field applications.
• Define system‑level specifications, including failure‑mode, safety and cybersecurity analyses.
• Document dynamic behavior of engine control system elements.
• Design and maintain engine control system architectures (hardware, software, services) with emphasis on performance and reusability.
• Coordinate with project management and hardware/software teams to integrate new functions and improve MBSE processes.

Required profile

• Engineering degree in automotive, powertrain, mechanical, mechatronics, electronics or related field.
• Experience in combustion engine control development, multi‑physics modeling and preferably engine calibration.
• Analytical mindset, high learnability and ability to work in agile, cross‑functional teams.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.
• Fluent English.

Required skills

• Matlab/Simulink.
• Embedded software engineering.
• Model‑based systems engineering (MBSE) and signal processing.
• Model‑in‑the‑Loop (MiL) simulation.
• ALM/PLM and requirements authoring tools.
• MBSE environments such as System Composer, Cameo or Rhapsody.
• Multi‑physics modeling and engine calibration (performance & emissions).
