Credit Risk Sanctioner (VP)

About the role

The Credit Risk Sanctioner (VP) will assess and approve or decline credit applications in line with Barclays' credit policies, risk appetite and regulatory requirements. This senior position supports sound credit decision‑making while protecting the bank’s risk profile across a diverse portfolio of high‑net‑worth, corporate and institutional clients.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse lending applications, financial statements, credit reports and other documents to evaluate borrower creditworthiness and repayment capacity.
• Monitor the performance of the Swiss credit portfolio, identifying early warning signs of delinquency and potential risks.
• Provide independent credit decisions adhering to established policies, risk parameters and regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement remediation actions for troubled lending, including workout plans, restructuring or collections.
• Collaborate with Credit Structuring, Front Office, Legal and Operations to ensure aligned credit solutions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and change programmes within the Credit Risk function.

Required profile

• Proven experience in credit risk management and sanctioning within a private banking environment.
• Strong understanding of banking products, client behaviour and market dynamics in Swiss private banking.
• Demonstrated stakeholder management and leadership skills, with the ability to influence senior partners.
• International experience across multiple regulatory jurisdictions is highly valued.

Required skills

• Fluency in English and French.
• Knowledge of mortgage lending business in Switzerland, the UK and France (including Monaco).
