Data Engineer Consultant

About the role

Orange Business in Geneva is looking for a Data Engineer Consultant to design, build and optimise modern cloud data platforms for its clients, using Microsoft Azure, Fabric, Databricks and Snowflake. The consultant works alongside data architects, analysts, cloud engineers and business stakeholders on projects across industries, covering data ingestion, transformation, modelling and consumption.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines, data warehouses, lakehouses and cloud data platforms.
• Develop and optimise ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform and deliver data from many sources.
• Create and maintain data models supporting analytics, reporting, business intelligence and AI use cases.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, analysts and architects to turn requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure data quality, governance, security and compliance.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise pipeline performance, reliability and scalability.
• Contribute to automation, testing, CI/CD and engineering best practices.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, analytics engineering or a similar role.
• Hands-on experience with modern data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Platform, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Snowflake, Synapse Analytics, dbt or Airflow.
• Fluency in French and English.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to work directly with clients.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT, data modelling, data integration and data warehouse or lakehouse architectures.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with Python or another common data engineering language.
• Preferred: DataOps, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, cloud-native deployment, and certifications in Azure, Fabric, Databricks or Snowflake.
