Data Science Internship – Advanced Materials

About the role

Join Huntsman's Advanced Materials Innovation Center in Basel as a Data Science Intern. You will support the Technology Department’s digital transformation by working on data pipelines, AI prototypes, and automation projects.

Key responsibilities

• Compile and analyse experimental data from archived projects for data‑science initiatives.
• Build, maintain and optimise end‑to‑end data pipelines that feed the enterprise Generative AI Platform.
• Develop, prototype and test LLM‑based architectures and agentic systems for large‑scale structured and unstructured datasets.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate chemistry and materials‑science problems into computational solutions.
• Assist in automating manual processes and creating dashboards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree completed or currently enrolled in a Master’s programme in computer science, applied mathematics, engineering or statistics.
• Strong analytical mindset, curiosity and a proactive attitude.
• Fluent in English and able to work in an international, collaborative environment.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• JavaScript (a plus).
• Familiarity with LLMs, vector databases and prompt engineering.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure.
• Basic knowledge of SQL and web‑development frameworks.
