Data Science & Process Modeling Intern

About the role

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a motivated Master’s student or recent graduate to join its Process Science Modeling and Data team for a six‑month internship in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. The role sits at the intersection of data science, process modeling, and pharmaceutical manufacturing, offering hands‑on experience with real industrial challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Clean, preprocess, and analyze manufacturing process data, applying exploratory data analysis and visualization to generate actionable insights.
• Support distillation and solvent recovery projects by developing and refining process models using tools such as Python, MATLAB, R, gPROMS, or Aspen Plus.
• Perform simulation and optimization studies to improve process performance and sustainability.
• Present findings and recommendations to scientific and engineering teams.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a Master’s program in Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience with Python‑based data analytics and familiarity with modeling software.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
