Data Specialist

About the role

The Data Specialist will join a major international organization to help build a new medical platform in the Canton of Vaud. Working within a medical environment, you will shape the structure, accessibility and quality of clinical data, ensuring historic records remain usable for research and decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with the medical unit and external developers to define logical data structures, variable architecture and metadata for the platform.
• Maintain accessibility and interpretability of historical medical datasets as the platform evolves.
• Create and update documentation such as data dictionaries, field definitions, validation rules and data lineage.
• Perform scientific data analysis, identify patterns, formulate research questions and support analytical interpretation.
• Deliver exploratory and targeted analyses that address medical, scientific and strategic queries.
• Translate analytical results into clear summaries, dashboards or presentations for internal stakeholders.
• Contribute to reproducible analytical workflows and robust data‑governance practices.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, data science, health informatics, computer science or a related discipline.
• Basic knowledge of human anatomy and musculoskeletal injuries.
• Demonstrated analytical ability through thesis work, applied projects, publications or prior research support experience.
• Critical thinking about data quality, structure, interpretation and methodological limitations.
• Motivation to evolve into an independent data specialist supporting high‑level medical research programmes.
• At least 5 years of experience in data analysis, data management, research support or a related field.
