Design Engineer – Teleoperation & UI

About the role

We are seeking a Design Engineer to own the end‑to‑end creation of teleoperation and operator‑facing interfaces. You will move from sketches and flows to a working React prototype, conduct user tests with real operators, and ship the final product.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop teleoperation, data‑collection, and operator interfaces, defining flows, interactions and visual language.
• Prototype designs directly in React (or the fastest suitable tool) and ship functional, accessible interfaces.
• Run inexpensive user tests with operators and customers, iterating based on observed behaviour.
• Challenge requirements and propose alternative interface solutions when needed.
• Identify painful workflows and suggest improvements, helping shape future product direction.

Required profile

• Portfolio of shipped interfaces that real users have interacted with.
• Strong instinct for user testing – able to set up cheap tests, observe, and iterate.
• Preference for building prototypes over writing specifications.
• Comfortable collaborating with engineers while keeping design judgment central.

Required skills

• Strong frontend development skills in React.
• Ability to integrate prototypes with APIs or backend data sources.
• Experience with WebXR or other immersive interface technologies (nice to have).
