Device Engineering Intern (12 Months, Basel)

About the role

Roche's Global Device Development organization (PTDZ) in Basel is looking for a Device Engineering Intern for a 12-month placement. The internship gives students a hands-on chance to apply their academic knowledge in a fast-paced pharmaceutical technical development setting, supporting critical projects and contributing to the future of drug delivery systems.

Key responsibilities

• Provide general assistance to device engineering project teams and help coordinate project activities
• Support design control by preparing documentation, archiving materials and improving departmental systems
• Write engineering memos, summarize exploratory test results, prepare drawings and specifications, and draft technical protocols and reports under engineer supervision
• Assist with research, data analysis, reporting and material preparation, collecting, processing and analysing test data such as engineering evaluations, design verification and QC data
• Maintain sample inventory and coordinate the assembly and shipment of test samples
• Conduct benchtop testing in collaboration with the verification engineering team
• Help establish and maintain useful AI agents and workflows for the department and development projects

Required profile

• Currently pursuing an academic or vocational degree in Device Engineering or a related field
• Enrolled at a university (Bachelor's or Master's) or finished studies within 12 months before the internship starts
• Strong analytical skills and good organisational skills
• Proactive, detail-oriented and able to work in a collaborative team
