Dining Worker

About the role

The Dining Worker supports daily operations at The Workshop within the STEM Teaching and Learning Facility. As the face of the service, you will interact with guests, handle food and beverage orders, and ensure a safe, clean environment while delivering outstanding Spartan experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Assist customers with purchases, food/drink orders, and promotional information.
• Operate cash registers and POS systems following cash‑handling procedures.
• Prepare and serve food items while adhering to food‑safety regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation through regular rounds and end‑of‑shift cleaning.
• Stock displays, manage inventory using FIFO practices, and move supplies between retail sites.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and address guest concerns promptly.
• Support special events, athletic venue services, and occasional lifting of up to 25 lb.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a campus or retail food service environment.
• Ability to work on‑call shifts, stand for most of the shift, and perform repetitive bending or squatting.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and teamwork mindset.
• Physical ability to lift and move items up to 25 lb.

Required skills

• Knowledge of food safety regulations and safe handling practices.
• Proficiency with POS/cash‑register systems.
• Basic merchandising and inventory‑stocking techniques.
