Director, Fair by Design Team

About the role

The Data Connectivity Lead for the Fair by Design team will provide strategic leadership for the Data Capability, driving FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data initiatives across Roche's Research and Early Development organisations. This senior role shapes the data landscape, leverages data as a strategic asset, and accelerates drug portfolio decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a world‑class team of data modelers, architects and governance experts to accelerate FAIR and compliant data access.
• Develop and implement the data FAIRification and compliance strategy, ensuring adoption of data governance policies.
• Define objectives, priorities and OKRs for the team and oversee large‑scale strategic initiatives and data insight projects.
• Drive modernization and harmonization of workflows to deliver AI‑ready, FAIR and compliant data assets.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across pRED and gRED, as well as DDC domains, to align strategic priorities.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a scientific or technical field.
• 8+ years of experience in pharma, diagnostics or related R&D data environments.
• Proven experience leading complex projects or teams in a matrix environment.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards for data privacy, security and quality.

Required skills

• Hands‑on expertise in at least one core data domain such as data stewardship, data standards, data architecture, FAIRification, data modeling or metadata management.
• Experience with semantic technologies, RDF vocabularies, biomedical ontologies, JSON, SPARQL, federated search, relational databases, knowledge‑graph technologies or AWS Neptune.
