Director of Applied AI, Scaling Strategist

About the role

The Enterprise AI & Reimagine Work team at Novartis is looking for a senior leader to drive strategic AI projects across the group, supporting the CEO and Executive Committee. This role combines enterprise transformation, AI expertise, and hands‑on problem solving.

Key responsibilities

• Independently lead strategic tech/AI initiatives for Novartis Group, the CEO and the Executive Committee.
• Define cross‑cutting solutions, including strategy projects, working groups and tech products, to enable AI scaling.
• Generate strategic insights and recommendations for top‑level leaders on AI and reimagined work.
• Act as a subject‑matter expert on selected AI topics and develop a network of AI experts across Novartis.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MS, MBA) preferred.
• Proficiency in English; additional languages a plus.
• Project and program management experience in strategic projects, preferably in pharma/healthcare.
• 2+ years hands‑on experience in digital/AI fields such as product management or digital analytics.
• Significant experience in a top‑tier consultancy at manager level.
• Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills, with executive‑level presentation experience.
