Director of Design – Heated Tobacco & Innovation

About the role

PMI is seeking a senior design leader to head the Product Build stream for Heated‑Tobacco (HnB) and Innovation programs. The role combines strategic design leadership with hands‑on product design, translating consumer insights and technology opportunities into market‑leading experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Define and drive design strategy from concept exploration through execution for HnB and Innovation programs.
• Lead end‑to‑end build delivery, coordinating with Consumer Innovation, Brand, Product Development, R&D, Operations and external partners.
• Manage program priorities, resources, budgets and timelines to ensure successful outcomes.
• Collaborate with peer Design Stream Leads to raise design excellence across the portfolio.
• Use storytelling to communicate design vision and promote AI‑enabled design workflows.

Required profile

• BA/BS or MA/MS in Industrial Design, Product Design, Design Strategy or related field.
• Significant experience in product design, innovation and creative leadership within corporate or agency settings.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary programs in matrixed organisations.
• Strong partner management, influencing, communication and people‑leadership skills.

Required skills

• Broad understanding of product, packaging, graphics, interaction design, CMF, accessories and end‑to‑end product development.
• Experience applying AI‑enabled design tools.
• Resource planning, budget management and external partner coordination.
