Director of Organizational Effectiveness and Culture

About the role

Abbott is seeking a Director of Organizational Effectiveness and Culture for its EPD headquarters in Basel. The role provides strategic leadership to enhance organizational design, drive cultural initiatives, and improve employee engagement across a global, matrixed environment.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate and redesign organizational structures, capabilities, roles, and workflows to align with business strategy.
• Implement culture strategies, monitor health via surveys, and drive actions to boost engagement.
• Facilitate leadership and team interventions to improve trust, communication, and collaboration.
• Lead change‑management programs, assess impact, identify risks, and equip leaders for transition.
• Manage a global team, build partnerships with senior HR leaders, and influence across all levels to secure sponsorship for OE and cultural initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s (required) and Master’s (preferred) in HR, organizational psychology, business administration or related field.
• 8–10 years progressive HR experience with focus on organizational effectiveness, change management and culture.
• 5+ years in a global or enterprise‑level leadership role managing cross‑functional or geographically dispersed teams.
• Proven ability to partner with senior leaders, influence at all levels, and navigate complex matrix environments.
• Strong business acumen, stakeholder management, and experience delivering measurable impact.
