Editorial Team Internship – UN Human Rights

About the role

This unpaid, full‑time internship is based in the Editorial Unit of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva. Interns will support the creation and dissemination of content for the UN Human Rights website, newsletters, social media, and global campaigns, gaining practical experience in UN communications.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in producing the bi‑monthly newsletter, including layout, information gathering, distribution and metric monitoring.
• Support weekly email communications on upcoming communication products and track social‑media performance.
• Research and draft feature stories using official UN documentation and other sources.
• Contribute to the preparation of public‑information campaigns, outreach activities and feedback collection.
• Help develop and brand public‑information products such as fact sheets, background notes and brochures.
• Draft and edit content for thematic pages on the OHCHR website.
• Liaise with OHCHR field presences and the UN Department of Public Information on communications matters.
• Assist in organizing briefings for visiting groups and coordinating the dissemination of materials to partners.

Required profile

• Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the Charter’s ideals.
• Ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Student in the final year of a bachelor, master or Ph.D. programme, or a recent graduate.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French is an asset.
