Electro-Mechanical Technician (24‑month contract)

About the role

You will join CERN’s technical team to inspect, maintain and validate electro‑mechanical DC switching systems used in the Large Hadron Collider. The position involves hands‑on work on high‑current energy extraction equipment, from assembly to performance testing.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble interface cables, mechanical structures and back‑plane modules.
• Participate in CAD design of components for the section.
• Test and debug electronic circuits, including soldering of low‑voltage components, PCBs and connectors.
• Support procurement of components and produce specific test equipment.
• Carry out regular maintenance of high‑current extraction systems: inspection, geometric measurements, electrical fine‑tuning and system testing.

Required profile

• Initial experience (max 2 years) in electricity, electrotechnics, electronics or mechatronics.
• Basic knowledge of electrical and electronic principles.
• Technical ability to mount/dismount mechanical parts and solder low‑voltage components.
• Good communication skills in English or French and willingness to learn the other language.
• Eligibility: national of a CERN Member or Associate State, holder of a general secondary education diploma, no prior CERN fellow or graduate contract.
