Engineering Internship - AI/Data

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Engineering Intern to join our AI/Data team in Zurich. You will work directly with the founder on building end‑to‑end AI systems that automate legal‑insurance coverage checks, gaining hands‑on experience with real production pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and improve data ingestion and processing pipelines for policy documents and legal texts.
• Support AI‑ready structuring tasks such as chunking, metadata extraction, and schema design.
• Prototype and implement LLM‑agent workflows for coverage analysis, including fact extraction and decision drafting.
• Assist with search and retrieval engineering, including embeddings, hybrid indexing, and relevance tuning.
• Build evaluation sets, run experiments, analyse failures and contribute to shipped improvements.
• Write clean TypeScript/Node.js code, add tests, and enhance observability with metrics and logging.
• Collaborate closely with the founder and domain experts, documenting decisions and sharing learnings.

Required profile

• Near completion of a Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or a related field.
• Strong programming abilities, preferably with TypeScript and Node.js.
• Good understanding of data structures, algorithms and handling messy real‑world data.
• Working knowledge of SQL, ideally PostgreSQL.
• Interest in applied AI/ML systems such as LLMs, embeddings and retrieval.
