Facility and Safety Support Technician – ATLAS Long Shutdown

About the role

As a versatile Facility and Safety Support Technician you will contribute to the smooth installation and operation of the ATLAS detector during Long Shutdown 3 (2026‑2030). Working within ATLAS Technical Coordination you will liaise with detector teams, manage equipment logistics and support occupational safety on site.

Key responsibilities

• Manage waste at the ATLAS facility, supporting equipment removal, waste sorting and ensuring timely availability of skip containers.
• Provide packaging materials, organise transport and logistics for equipment owners to and from CERN.
• Set up temporary storage for consolidation projects in surface and underground areas.
• Monitor site activities, conduct safety tours, report observations and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure availability, inspection and maintenance of safety equipment.
• Perform shifts in the ATLAS control room and carry out scaffolding inspections in the experimental area.
• Offer technical support to the ATLAS Safety and Infrastructure teams.

Required profile

• Technical certificate, secondary education or equivalent with relevant experience in electromechanics, logistics or safety.
• Proven experience in facility management, logistics and on‑site technical activities.
• Track record in occupational safety and basic experience with electromechanical system maintenance/assembly.
• Strong motivation to contribute to the ATLAS facility operation.
